« ANI » Dance Ensemble of the HAMAZKAYIN

Armenian Cultural and Educational Association of Montreal

The “ANI” Dance Ensemble regroups over 150 performers,
composed of adults and youngsters (4 years and over). The Ensemble was founded
almost 40 years ago in the spirit of our organization, it oversees the
safeguard and transmission of our national treasures, amongst which the
instruction of our traditional artistic expressions, through the dance media.
This young and dynamic ensemble, under the artistic directorship of Mrs. Eva
Airapetian, was able also to transform the traditional dances and gave them a modern
glamour, by her creative vision towards artistic and talented expression. Mrs.
Airapetian has been in charge of the Ensemble since now 15 years.

The “ANI” Dance Ensemble has contributed in disclosing
its artistic talent, by participating to diverse celebrations such as the Fête
Nationale du Québec and the Canada National Day, as well as to other
prestigious local and or international festivals, amongst which:

  • Montreal International EXPO 67 (1967);
  • The Folkloric Festival for the occasion of the Montreal
    International Olympics (1976);
  • The International Folklore Festival of Drummondville,
    Quebec (1988 and 2004);
  • Yerevan, Armenia (1990);
  • The International Dance Festival of San Juan, Puerto
    Rico ( 1991 and 2004), representing Canada;
  • The World
    Festival of “Insiemme”, Licata, Italy (1995), representing Canada;
  • “Open House” celebrations of the City Hall of Montreal
    (2000);
  • The Annual Children’s Festivities, Park Maissonneuve,
    Montreal (since 2000);
  • The Annual EuroFest held at Parc Jean-Drapeau
  • Canada
    Day Celebrations, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec (2002);
  • World Weddings in collaboration with the SPEQ (2006);
  • Annual presentations at the Salle Pierre-Mercure,
    Montreal:

    • “Armenia, 1700th” homage to the acceptance
      of Christianity as a national religion (2001);
    • “Dzovitz Dzov” 2004

“Armenia, Rebirth” homage to the 15th Anniversary of the 2nd
Armenian Republic (2006)
